Week 9&10 Final Build
In these weeks, we finished the tech and music build of the game, adding in the third level and final scene, and fixing any bugs existing in the game. A key improvement to the game is the monster pathfinding. There was a bug where the monster would get stuck behind obstacles that blocked line of sight, and we fixed this by improving detection of line of sight, along with adding in more variety of the path the monster takes by making it teleport.
We made the environment brighter with ambient lighting so that it wasn't completely dark outside of the flashlight. We also removed the inventory screen and just had a larger task bar in the bottom left displaying what items need to be collected.
The third level has a room separated into three sections in the front and a maze in the back. Some of the statues in the maze look like the monster to throw the player off. There are chests in the maze that need to be opened by holding E. Audio for the third level was also implemented.
We also added a title screen and death screen with the game title image.
There were some other bugs we had to fix with the environment being completely dark when proceeding to a scene from a previous scene instead of loading the scene directly, and collecting all the items not triggering the win condition.
For the next few weeks, our art team will be working on completing all the models and textures to prepare for our final presentation.
